The President of Gambia, Adama Barrow, has confirmed that he is self-isolating for two weeks after the Vice President Isatou Touray tested positive for COVID-19.
The Office of the President informed the Gambians about the Vice President, Dr Isatou Touray testing positive of COVID-19.
The Vice President, Dr.Isatou Touray Stated, “Fellow #Gambians; I tested Positive for COVID-19. I am Well and in Good Spirits and will be going into quarantine. Please wear a Mask and follow the Directions of the #MohGambia“.
Wearing of face masks has been made mandatory for Gambians after the President lifted the State of Public Emergency to curb the spread of covid-19.
Vice President, Dr.Isatou Touray, 65-Years old, a Women Rights activist and anti-female genital mutilation campaigner was appointed the Vice President of The Gambia on March 2019 by Adama Barrow.
Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo was in self-isolation for two weeks after being in close contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.
Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza had also died from the novel.
The Gambia has recorded 326 COVID-19 cases, 66 recoveries and 8 deaths.
