Ghana will soon know whether it qualifies for the release of the second tranche of funds under the IMF program it has entered into.
Some 114 million dollars is expected to be released to Ghana by the Bretton Wood Institution after a review of the country’s economic performance this month.
The Executive Board of the IMF will be assessing a report submitted to it by its mission to Ghana in July on government’s performance.
Speaking to the media, head of the IMF delegation to Ghana Joel Toujas Bernante said a decision on the way forward will made after the review.
“All the disbursement under the program take place after the adoption and completion of reviews by our executive board. The usual process is for the team to come, like we did, and have meeting with the authorities then we finalise all the documentations,” he stated.
If approved, Ghana will be left with six more disbursements under the three year programme which is expected to put the economy back on track.
