Ethiopian Airlines wins African Airline of the Year

ethopian-airlines-awardEthiopian Airlines, the fastest growing and the largest African airline, has won the African Aviation “African Airline of the Year,” Award for 2016 during the 25th Anniversary African Aviation Air Finance Africa Conference and Exhibition.

A statement issued by Mrs Hanna Atnafu, Manager Corporate Communications and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the Airlines took the Awards at the African Aviation Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

It said, the award was presented to the Airline in recognition of its financial performance, fleet modernisation, route network expansion and in-flight service.

It said it also recognised the Airlines’ overall customer care and its outstanding contribution to aviation development in Africa.

Mr Nick Fadugba, Chief Executive Officer, African Aviation, who presented the award, said Ethiopian Airlines continue to set the pace through its tangible achievements and a source of great pride to Africa.

He said the Airline has also excelled in the provision of technical services to other African and non-African airlines and had made an enormous contribution to the development of Aviation Human Resources for the continent.

Mr Mesfin Tassew, Chief Operating Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, said: “We are pleased to win the Award, which is a testimony of Ethiopian’s 70 years of commitment to bring Africa together and closer to the rest of the world.”

He said the Award are also in recognition of the visionary leadership of Ethiopian management and the hard work of the thousands of Ethiopian employees, who work hard to keep the Airline shining in the skies.

Ethiopian Airlines is a multi-award winning airline, including Best Airline to Africa and Best Airline in Africa.
