Emirates named best International Airline in Ghana

emirates-airlinesEmirates, the world’s largest international airline, has been awarded the Best International Airline in Ghana, at the 2016 edition of the Balafon Award of Excellence held in Accra.

The award is the outcome of a stringent short-listing process by an esteemed planning committee comprising travel professionals and journalists from Ghana and Nigeria.

The event was held on the theme: “Seamless Travel in West Africa,” featuring discussions on the promotion of West Africa as a single destination for travel and business.

A statement issued by Emirates and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, on Wednesday.

Known widely as the West African Travel Awards, the Balafon Awards was initiated by organisers of Akwaaba African Travel Market, which aims to recognise individuals and companies who have not only excelled in, but contributed to the growth of tourism and travel in the sub-region.

The Balafon Award of Excellence is part of the Accra Weizo; day; s travel seminar, awards and exhibition event, which brings together people in trade and travel across the sub-region.

The significant Awards event involves organisations in the travel and business industry in West Africa, the statement said.

“Emirates’ ensures that maximum comfort for its passengers extends into the in-flight entertainment and communications choices. In this, like other areas of our operation, Emirates seeks to excel – enabling customers to get the very most out of their Emirates journey.

“Having secured a number of on board industry firsts since its launch in 1985, such as being the first airline to install TV screens in every seat on every aircraft in its fleet (1992), to being the first airline in the world to allow mobile phone use inflight (2008), Emirates still provides one of the most comprehensive and state-of-the-art entertainment and communications services in the skies, with new innovations and refinements being implemented on a regular basis,” the statement added

Emirates recently swept the 2016 Skytrax Awards by winning three gongs including the coveted World’s Best Airline Award. Others include the World’s Best Inflight Entertainment for the 12th consecutive year and the Best Airline in the Middle East.
