President Akufo-Addo congratulates France’s Macron

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Mr Emanuel Macron, the newly elected President of France, for his decisive victory in the presidential run-off polls held last weekend.

“I applaud the determination of Macron in his acceptance speech, to fight the divisions that undermined France and effect the change the French people voted for,” he said in a letter to the newly elected French leader.

Mr Macron, the Independent pro-European contrist, won the presidential election against Marine Le Pen of the far-right National Front.

President Akufo-Addo also commended the outgoing French President, Francois Hollande, for his dedication and service to the French people.

“His efforts in helping to deepen the relations between France and Ghana, and the rest of Africa, are deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten”

“It is my hope that Mr Macron would continue in the stead of past leaders of the great French nation in strengthening the ties between France and Ghana, and the entire African continent,” the letter said.
