YOUNG DIPLOMATS OF GHANA condemns gruesome lynching of Capt. Mahama

Captain Mahama

The Young Diplomats of Ghana (YDG) extends our sincere condolences to the family, friends and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for the gruesome lynching of Capt. Maxwell Adam Mahama who died in the line of duty.

Posted on an official duty to protect the operation of Alaska C & G mining company at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central region, Capt. Mahama met his untimely death when some residents of the community misconstrued him for an armed robber during one of his usual jogging and lynched him.

The YDG condemns the recurring and heinous act of mob justice in our society, which is responsible for the deaths of many including this noble soldier.

To broaden this discussion, many, according to a recent survey conducted by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), have attributed these crimes to weak institutions, which we believe is a wake-up call to state institutions to serve the good people of Ghana without fear or favour.

Young Diplomats of Ghana (YDG) wishes to state categorically that, the lynching of Captain Mahama is criminal and must be dealt with dispassionately and devoid of partisan politics.

We commend the Ghana Police Service for arresting seven suspects to aid in investigating this inhumane act, but charge them to pursue justice to the latter.

Finally, we admonish all Ghanaians, especially the youth, to remain law-abiding and say no to MOB JUSTICE!!!

Rest in Peace. Capt. Maxwell Adam Mahama.
