Chinese Ambassador Inaugurates Classroom Blocks At Akyem Awisa

Mr Shi Ting Wang the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana has completed and inaugurated the renovation of dilapidated basic school projects at Akyem Awisa.

The rehabilitated projects are; the Akyem Awisa Methodist Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High School classroom blocks, a toilet facility and a school park in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region.

At the inaugural ceremony Mr Ting Wang said, the project funded by the Chinese Embassy cost $200,000 and was constructed by the Qingijan International Development Company Limited.

The Methodist school since its establishment in 1953 has not been renovated until in August 2018 when the Chinese Ambassador gave them the assurance of its rehabilitation.

Mr. Ting Wang urged the students to study hard in order to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country and strengthen the relations between China and Ghana.

Nana Kwarten Karikari III, the Chief of Akyem Awisa was grateful for the kind gesture and therefore appealed for the establishment of a Technical and Vocational Training Institute in the area.

Mr Yaw Osafo –Marfo, the Senior Minister through whose initiative the renovation was made possible thanked the Chinese Ambassador saying, the creation of the school park had encouraged him to form a football club to be known as Kantanka football club for children in Akyem Awisa from age nine and 15 years.

Professor Opoku Amankwa, the Director General of Ghana Education Service who is a product of the Methodist School pledged his support to provide a computer laboratory for the school by the end of the year.

He said he would ensure that, the school was put on the list of model schools and therefore urged the teachers to deliver efficient service to let his dream come true.

Mr Emmanuel Kwakye the former Birim South District Chief Executive, the clergy, parents, teachers and students were present at the event.
