Representatives of the Canadian Navy has visited the Sekondi School for the Deaf to interact with the students and made donations to the school.
Items donated included, white boards, story books. Pencils and erasers, footballs, sanitary pads, toiletries and toys.
The maiden visit to the school was also to train the staffs on basic first aid practices.
Her Excellence Dr Heather Cameron the High Commissioner of Canada to Ghana who led the team said, her outfit was committed at supporting the needy especially people with disabilities.
According to her, “disability was not inability” and that they were in the school to contribute their widow’s mite towards meeting the needs of the students.
“These are donations from Canadians families and friends of the Navy in Canada”.
The headmistress of the school, Mrs Favour Aflakpui commended the High Commissioner and the team for the visit and said the school was honoured to have such an opportunity, adding, it was the first time in the history of the school.
She praised the Canadian Navy for the kind gesture and honour of visiting the school and training of the staff on basic first aid, which she noted would help the staff to handle students in case of injuries.
Mrs Aflakpui appealed to other stakeholders, corporate bodies, public institutions and private institutions to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the school to enable the students realise their dreams.
