Lebanese Ambassador Urges Young Journalists To Sell Ghana’s Culture Through Their Works

Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Maher Kheir, has charged students of the Ghana Institute of Journalism to hold in high regard cultural values while pursuing the truth in their work as journalists.

The Ambassador explained that holding cultural values in high esteem is the easiest way to sell one’s culture to the world.

According to him, “when you possess all these values, you will be the masters of yourselves, masters of the pulpit and you will certainly be the brightest journalists.”

Adding that, he believes language and culture “can build the shortest bridge between all people and strengthen human relations.”

He said this Wednesday, November 20, on the back of his intentions to launch a Lebanese Literature Prize and Research Awards at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, which seeks to help promote Lebanese and Ghanaian literature.

Mr. Maher Kheir also revealed intentions of Awarding Scholarships to some 13 undergraduate students at the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

He said that, the Lebanese community is in the process of forming a Lebanese Scholarship Alumni to create a network between all beneficiaries, the Embassy as well as the Lebanese community at large.

Rector of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Professor Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, graced the occasion, expressed gratitude to the Embassy for the continuous support to the institute.
