EU Evacuates Citizens From Ghana Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Citizens of the Netherlands and other countries in Europe have been repatriated from Ghana to their various countries.

Though borders are closed to flights entering the country, the Information Ministry said on April 3, 2020, at a press briefing that the issue of extracting foreigners who have been stuck in Ghana due to the global response to the spread of coronavirus, will be addressed once confirmation of citizenship and residency permits arrived from their home countries.

The confirmed and extracted foreigners left on a KLM flight the same afternoon and have been safely reunited with their families according to a tweet by the Dutch Embassy.

The flight which left the Kotoka International Airport, was made successful with the collaboration of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ghanaian authorities.
