President Mahama arrives in London for high-level UK visit focused on investment and diplomacy

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level working visit that will feature a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

A statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, said the President was received on arrival by Lord Michael David Katz, MBE, of the Royal Household, Mr Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Mrs Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The visit is aimed at deepening the longstanding bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, promoting Ghana as a preferred destination for investment, and strengthening engagement with the Ghanaian diaspora.

“Building on this welcome, the visit will deepen long-standing bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, position Ghana as a premier investment destination, and actively engage with the Ghanaian diaspora,” the statement noted.

As part of his programme, President Mahama will on Sunday evening participate in a diaspora town hall meeting organised by the Ghana High Commission in London.

The statement said the President would on Monday, June 1, open the Ghana-UK Investment Summit at Raffles London.

The summit, it said, was a key component of the visit, designed to attract foreign direct investment and foster strategic partnerships between Ghanaian businesses and British investors.

President Mahama will also be a guest of the London Stock Exchange, where he is expected to ring the opening bell to mark the start of trading.
