“Vote from Abroad” to assist US voters in Ghana ahead of midterm elections

Vote from Abroad will organise a free event for United States citizens living in Ghana to help them participate in the upcoming US midterm elections.

The group provides information and tools needed for voting.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, at 1400 hours at Theia Coffee House in the Airport Residential Area of Accra.

It will provide hands-on assistance to Americans who need help requesting, receiving or returning their ballots ahead of the elections.

According to a press statement issued by Vote from Abroad, the event is open to all Americans in Ghana, regardless of their political party affiliation.

The team will also assist eligible voters who have not registered or requested a ballot to complete the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA), provided the deadline set by their respective states has not passed.

The initiative aims to assist 50 voters through the event.

Americans who are unable to attend in person will be able to participate online and receive assistance with the voting process.

They may also visit the Vote from Abroad website for information and support.

Mr Lenny Baer, a volunteer with the Vote from Abroad team in Ghana, said many Americans living overseas did not participate in US elections, partly because they believed their votes would not make a difference or felt disconnected from life in the United States.

“Most Americans who live overseas don’t vote in US elections,” he said, adding that some might believe their votes did not matter or choose not to vote because they had left their lives in the United States behind.

“But they can vote from abroad, and we can help make the process easier for them,” he said.

The event forms part of efforts to provide overseas American voters with the information and practical assistance needed to exercise their voting rights.

VoteFromAbroad.org provides US citizens living outside the country with information and tools to facilitate overseas voting.

The service is provided by the Democratic Party Committee Abroad, also known as Democrats Abroad.

The statement said further details about the event, including the online participation option and registration, were available through an RSVP link provided by the organisers: https://tinyurl.com/bdefxhxj
