A GH¢648,000.00 office, built for the Ghana Education Service (GES) in Sekyere-Central District, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been inaugurated.
This brings to 15 the number of district education offices funded by the US federal government agency across the nation under a US$19.7 million grant.
Other projects undertaken include the construction of classroom structures for 49 junior high schools (JHS), 50 kindergarten blocks and 45 washrooms in 38 deprived districts.
Dr. Felix Amoako, Director, Funds and Procurement Management Unit (FPMU) of the Education Ministry, hailed the project as a big relief, having effectively ended the discomfort of operating from rented private property.
He praised the strong US support towards the development of education and asked teachers to be inspired by this to work with zeal and passion.
Mr. Ebenezer Akuoko-Frimpong, the District Chief Executive (DCE), expressed satisfaction with the quality of job done by the contractors.
He asked the education authorities to make sure that the building was properly maintained to keep it in good shape at all times.
Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Mensah, the District Education Director, said he was happy that they now have adequate office space to function properly.
