The French government is supporting the Western region to strengthen audit, monitoring and evaluation within the MMDAs to ensure that assemblies become more accountable with state resources and to the people they serve.

The agreement to this effect had been signed between the government of Ghana and the French government to commence the implementation of the 255,000 Euro project, which expires in May, 2017.

Mr. Simon Bokor of the Institute of Local Government, implementers of the project, who briefed the Regional Coordinating Council and the District Chief Executives on the project, said there would be six months of coaching of the various assemblies on strategic report writing, which is currently lacking in most of the assemblies.

He said the project sought to build upon the existing facilities and skills of the assemblies to improve on service delivery.
