Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ghana, a non-profit organization, is to host its 2015 Africa and Middle East Conference in Accra to collaborate and exchange ideas on how to impact on their communities.
The four-day event which would take place from the 6th to the 9th of May at the Accra International Conference Centre will be held on the theme ‘Transforming socio-economic challenges into opportunities through entrepreneurship”.
According to a statement issued in Accra to the GNA and signed by Mr Stephen Kwaku Darku, Director of Communications and Marketing, JCI, said 700 delegates would participate in the event.
He said that partners and stakeholder organizations would address international issues, show their commitment to becoming socially responsible leaders and form business networks.
Mr Kwaku Darku said the Conference Organizing Committee is partnering the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industries, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts, National Youth Authority, Ghana Tourist Authority, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council to hold the event.
JCI is an organization of young active citizens between the ages of 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating positive change in their communities.
JCI members share the belief that in order to create positive change, “we must take collective action to improve ourselves and the world around us”, he noted.
He said with over 5,000 local organizations in more than 115 countries and territories, JCI forms a vibrant international network with over 200,000 members.
JCI Ghana is a National Organization Membership affiliated to JCI since 2007 and has six local organizations in four regions in Ghana that is still expanding.
The Communication Director also stated that the organization had played a critical role in the development of the communities in which its local organizations operate.
Some of the key projects undertaken include the donation of hospital beds to the Princess Marie Louise Hospital, donation of a 5000 litres poly tank to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, women empowerment in Tarkwa, refurbishment of dilapidated library of South La Primary School and mounting of road safety campaign bill boards”, he added.
