Ghanaian business companies will, from April 5 to 10, embark on a trade and investment mission to Doha in Qatar, to explore business opportunities for both countries.
The six-day trip will be undertaken by 25 Ghanaian companies under the auspices of the World Trade Centre, Accra, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and the Middle East Bureau of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Ministry of Ghana.
The companies include Best Charcoal Africa Limited, Akyianu and Associates, Ntrakwa and Associates, Cardinal Law, Commet Ghana Limited, Strategic Africa Initiative, Equity Health Care, Techiman Football Club, Great Argon Group, Toprope Ghana Limited, and Helisel Aviation.
The purpose of the mission is to introduce both Ghanaian and the Qatari firms to their common markets and prospective partners in the areas of agriculture, aviation, fishing, oil and gas, hydro carbons, energy, real estate, construction and Infrastructure.
The engagement is expected to strengthen the collaboration between the two countries to reconnoiter business opportunities for trade investment.
The Ghanaian companies would make presentations on their field of disciplines, to introduce the country and other prospective business ventures existing in Ghana, to the Qatar business community.
Togbe Afede the Fourteenth, Board Chairman of the Centre, at a pre-departure briefing in Accra, said the Centre, owned by Strategic Initiatives Limited, acquired the license to operate from the World Trade Centres Association (WTCA) in New York, to operate in Accra, Ghana.
Togbe Afede said, WTCA Accra, is a member of the prestigious WTCA, whose membership includes more than 300 World Trade Centres, operating in 100 countries, a global network that provides business people, the services and facilities for easy and faster international trade.
“Through the WTCA, WTC Accra becomes a local link to all other World Trade Centres with a unique concept of reciprocity, making membership in WTC Accra an entry into the international business community” he added.
He emphasized that the Centre aims to bring together businesses and government agencies involved in international trade, to provide essential trade services and stimulate the economy of the country.
Togbe Afede said, the Centre has organized successful trade missions to Brazil, the United States of America and Italy, to enable Ghanaian companies to exhibit their products for business opportunities and investments.
He urged the companies to make strong presentations of their various companies at the mission in Italy to attract investors into the country.
Mr Tony Kutteng, Deputy Director, Middle East Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, said the recent trip visit by President Mahama to Qatar had strengthened the relationship between the two countries for mutual benefits.
He urged the Ghanaian business companies to be careful and conduct themselves well, not to infringe on the Qataris cultures, since they are predominantly a Muslim community.
