Virgin Atlantic says high fuel costs forces it to suspend Ghana operations

virgin_atlantic_AirlineBritish airline company, Virgin Atlantic says it is suspending operations from the Ghanaian capital, Accra to London due to what it describes as “exceptionally high fuel costs” in the country.

Other factors for the service suspension it says include a challenging wider economic environment and an inability to operate morning arrivals from Accra due to scarcity of slots at Heathrow.

The airline says its last flight from Accra to London will depart September 23, 2013.
