The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) hosted a Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency B2B Expo on Thursday, May 22, 2under the theme “Powering Ghana’s Industry through Sustainable Energy.” The event served as a premier platform for industry players—particularly those in commercial and industrial sectorsto connect with solution providers in the renewable energy and energy efficiency space.
AGI CEO, Mr. Seth Twum-Akwaboah, described the theme as a call to action, urging industrial leaders, policymakers, and innovators to rethink the future of energy in Ghana. He emphasized that rising energy costs, supply inconsistencies, and increasing pressure for climate responsibility have brought sustainable energy to the forefront of industrial strategy.
“For organizations to remain competitive, productive, and resilient, we must align our energy choices with smarter, greener, and more sustainable alternatives. That is why we established the AGI Energy Service Centre,” he stated.
He stressed that renewable energy offers a viable and attractive option for industry, noting that reliance on traditional energy sources is unsustainable—especially for a country seeking to operate a 24-hour economy. Mr. Twum-Akwaboah further pointed out that recent power outages have only deepened the urgency for reliable and uninterrupted energy solutions for businesses.
The expo brought together over 40 exhibitors, each showcasing innovative renewable energy technologies that businesses can adopt to stabilize production and improve operational efficiency.
AGI’s strategy for promoting renewable energy adoption aims not only to reduce dependence on the national grid but also to foster a new era of energy independence. The goal is to encourage businesses to supplement their energy needs with clean alternatives, enabling sustainable and resilient industrial growth.
“The transition to renewable energy is not an option, it is imperative for remaining globally competitive,” Mr. Twum-Akwaboah concluded.
