China hands over new Cape Coast Stadium to Ghana

cape-coast-stadiumThe Chinese Embassy and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has signed an acceptance certificate and a handing-over of the newly built stadium at Cape Coast to Ghana at the Ministry’s conference room.

The 15,000 seater capacity multi-purpose stadium at Cape Coast is a China-aided project in Ghana, that was constructed by a Chinese Company China Jiangxi Corp, to help improve sports infrastructure in Ghana.

Mr. Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuje, Minister for Youth and Sports, who officially signed and received the certificate on behalf of the President of Ghana John Mahama, Government and the people of Ghana, noted with much joy that “we are highly appreciative of what the Chinese government has done for the people of Ghana, the stadium is beautiful and it has everything a modern stadium needs”.

The multi-purpose stadium is furnished with eight runways, one football pitch with natural turf, two outdoor basketball courts, one handball court, one tennis court, one boxing training field, one gym, athlete dormitories and other facilities that a modern stadium can boast off.

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Sun Baohong expressed her joy and the impact the newly built stadium would do for this country “the stadium will promote the development of sports in Ghana and also enhance tourism in Cape Coast.

“It will also stimulate the economic growth of Ghana as well as the region when put to good use” she noted.
