UN Appoints Brigadier Alloh As Chief Of Staff For Liberia

UN-peacekeeping-soldiersThe United Nations has appointed Brigadier General Stanley Brian Alloh of the Ghana Armed Forces as the Chief of Staff for its mission in Liberia.

Brigadier General Stanley Brian Alloh is assuming this appointment with vast experience having served the Ghana Armed Forces for over three decades. He is a graduate of the Ghana Military Academy and was commissioned into the Infantry Corps on 17 June 1983.

As a seasoned officer, Brigadier General Alloh has successfully undertaken all mandatory military courses both in Ghana and abroad.   These include Young Officers, Jungle Survival and the Combat Team commanders’ courses in Ghana. He then proceeded to Georgia – USA for his Airborne course. He also attended his Junior and Senior Command and Staff courses in Ghana.   In 1995, he attended the Land Forces Command and Staff course in Ontario, Canada.

On peace support front, he did both the Civil-Military Coordinators’ and the Integrated Peace Support Operations courses at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Ghana. Additionally, he undertook the Advance Planning for Integrated Missions (APIM) course in Karen-Kenya.  In 2006, he also attended a workshop on Non-Lethal weapons in Germany and later undertook a course in the Protection of Civilians in Tuusula, Finland.

Brigadier General Alloh has held a number of appointments within the Ghana Armed Forces across the various command and staff levels. These include Adjutant of the fourth Battalion of Infantry, Aide de Camp to the Army Commander, Company Commander, Directing Staff – Army Training School, Battalion Second-in-Command and a Commanding Officer.

He was the Assistant Director General, Personnel Administration at the General Headquarters and General Staff Officer Grade I (Operations and Training) – Military Academy and Training Schools.  He also served as Director Army Affairs at the Defence Ministry.  Before his appointment with the United Nations Mision in Liberia, he briefly served as the Commander of the newly restructured Army Training Command.

Brigadier General Alloh is a seasoned peacekeeper who has served 11 tours in 7 different missions/countries and in 10 different appointments.  He has served in Southern Lebanon, Cambodia, Tajikistan,Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, Darfur amongst others.

He is a member of the African Civil-Military Instructors and the Institute of Professional Human Resource Practitioners, Ghana. Brig Gen Alloh is a CIMIC resource trainer at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre and the International Peace Support Training Centre (PSTC) – Kenya.
