China’s CPPCC Chairman visits Ghana

The Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Yu Zhengsheng, arrived in Accra on Saturday for a four-day state visit.

Mr Yu, one of the top leaders of China’s Communist Party, was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport by the Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho, accompanied by Mr Ebo Barton-Odro, First Deputy Speaker.

The Chinese leader, who is on a three- nation African tour, has visited Cote d’Ivoire and Gabon. His visit to Ghana is aimed at deepening bilateral and cultural ties.

Mr Yu is expected pay a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama.

He would hold bilateral talks with the Speaker of Parliament, and explore economic and social interest of China.

He is expected to interact with a cross-section of Chinese entrepreneurs and citizens living in Ghana.

The Chinese leader on arrival visited the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly Hospital at Teshie near Accra, where he interacted with Chinese and Ghanaian medical Staff at the health facility which was funded with a Chinese grant.

Mr Yu would leave Ghana for China on Tuesday, April 19.
