UK Visa Application Centre to be opened in Tamale from April 7

The United Kingdom High Commission in Ghana has announced plans to open its third Visa Application Centre in Tamale effective April 7 2026, expanding services to the northern belt of Ghana and improving access for applicants outside the country’s major southern cities.

The new centre, located at Tamale Premium Application Centre, Pension Tower, SSNIT Building, 2nd Floor, Tamale, Ghana, will operate on Mondays and Tuesdays from 08:00 to 16:00 GMT.

The announcement marks a major expansion of the UK’s visa operations in Ghana, bringing relief and convenience to residents across the five administrative regions of the northern belt, Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East, and Upper West Regions. Facebook user Sadik Shahadu expressed his excitement, stating: “I got mine in Accra and it was delivered to me by courier in Tamale. This is a huge relief for my people in Tamale.”

This new facility joins the existing main Visa Application Centre in Accra at the Grand Oyeeman Building, and the Premium Visa Application Centre in Kumasi, which opened in June 2025 to increase access outside the capital. The UK Visa Application Centers now cover three key zones in the country, addressing accessibility needs, representation, and operational expansion.

The expansion is part of VFS Global’s ongoing efforts to streamline visa services. The company became the UK High Commission’s third-party visa application service provider in October 2024. A delegation visited Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 25, 2026, to strengthen institutional cooperation and ensure improved quality, transparency, and efficiency in visa and consular services.
