Former Nigerian Leader Calls On President Kufuor

Former Nigerian President General Abdulsalami Abubakar on Monday, August 11, 2014 paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor in Accra.

The former Nigerian Leader is in the country for his honorary doctorate degree conferment from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) together with former President Jerry John Rawlings and Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, former Principal, and first Vice-Chancellor of UEW.

The ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on August 14, 2014, would be preceded by a series of lectures to be delivered by former President Abubakar, on the theme: “Sustaining Excellence in Educational Leadership for Accelerated National Development”.

He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Fati Abubakar and their six children and Prof. Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, Vice-Chancellor of the UEW.

Former President Kufuor together with his wife, Mrs. Theresa Kufuor, gave their Nigerian counterparts a warm reception.

The two leaders discussed a wide range of issues focusing on peace and bilateral relations between the two countries.

Former President Kufuor said the conferment of the doctorate degree on former President Abubakar would go a long way to strengthen the bond of cooperation between the two countries.

Former President Abubakar, on his part, said over the years, there has been a healthy rivalry between the two countries.
