Grant’s Appointment Will Fortify Israel-Ghana Bilateral Relations- Israeli Ambassador

The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana Sharon Bar-li says Ghana’s decision to appoint her countryman as its national coach will further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Avram Grant, a former Chelsea manager, was unveiled last Thursday in Accra and has officially commenced work as head coach for the Black Stars.

The 54-year-old was handed a two-year contract which will see him handle both the 2015 and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals and also the qualifiers to the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.
Ambassador Bar-li believes the FA’s bold decision to settle on Grant, who is the first coach from the Middle East to coach the Black Stars, is a huge positive on the existing relationship between the two countries.

“First of all it is good for both countries, it is good for our bilateral relations. We can call it sports diplomacy if you like,” Ambassador Bar-li told Joy Sports Ridwan Ibrahim Asante in an exclusive interview.
“It is another layer. It is another level of co-operation and collaboration between the countries. I can tell you both countries are sharing their passion of football.

“And I am sure he (Avram Grant) will be contributing both due to his experience as a very veteran coach who has really coached all over the world and also due to the fact that he is Israeli.

“Israelis have a passion. They do things with lot of motivation and they don’t give up easily. And they are good at alternations and findings things that other people might deem impossible, too hard or too difficult. Israelis don’t give up too easily.”
