Leading global airline Emirates has announced the expansion of its operations in Ghana, increasing its weekly flights between Dubai and Accra from seven to eleven, in a move aimed at strengthening connectivity, supporting tourism growth, and enhancing travel options for passengers.
The additional four weekly services will commence on July 12, 2026, reflecting the airline’s confidence in the Ghanaian market and the growing demand for travel to and from the country. The expansion will provide travelers with improved access to Emirates’ extensive global network through its Dubai hub.
According to the airline, the new flights will offer more convenient connections to Accra from key destinations including Delhi, Boston, Los Angeles, and major gateways across Germany and the United Kingdom. The enhanced schedule will also improve connectivity from major tourism and business centers such as Beijing, Seoul, Sydney, Perth, Mumbai, Singapore, New York (JFK), and Jeddah.
The additional services will complement Emirates’ existing daily operations and respond to sustained growth in passenger demand on the route, which continues to record strong seat occupancy throughout the year.
Under the new schedule, flight EK789 will depart Dubai at 03:30 hrs and arrive in Accra at 07:40 hrs, while the return service, EK790, will depart Accra at 10:25 hrs and arrive in Dubai at 22:40 hrs. The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays using the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Emirates Country Manager for Ghana, Salem Almana, said the expansion underscores the airline’s long-term commitment to Ghana and its confidence in the country’s growing aviation and tourism sectors.
“The introduction of this additional service demonstrates our continued confidence in the Ghanaian market and our commitment to supporting the country’s growing travel needs. Beyond providing greater convenience for our customers, this expansion will strengthen business, tourism and trade links between Ghana and key markets across our global network, while contributing to the continued growth of Ghana’s aviation sector,” Almana said.
With the introduction of flights EK789 and EK790, Emirates will operate 11 weekly flights to Ghana using its wide-body Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The aircraft features eight private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class, and 304 seats in Economy Class.
The airline also highlighted its award-winning onboard products and services, including regionally inspired meals, complimentary beverages, and its “ice” inflight entertainment system, which offers more than 6,500 channels of on-demand content in over 40 languages. Passengers traveling on the route will also have access to Ghanaian productions, including Kotoka, Part Time Woman, and Ghana Map.
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) welcomed the expansion, describing it as a strong endorsement of Ghana’s aviation sector and a reflection of the country’s growing appeal as a travel and business destination.
“This development further reinforces Accra’s position as a preferred destination and highlights the conducive operating environment that continues to attract and support businesses seeking to establish or expand their presence in Ghana,” GACL said in a statement.
The expansion comes amid continued growth in Ghana’s aviation industry. Industry data indicates that more than 27,000 flights passed through Accra’s airspace in 2025, carrying approximately 3.6 million passengers. The figures underscore Ghana’s increasing importance as a regional hub for tourism, trade, business, and transit travel in West Africa.
The latest investment by Emirates is expected to further strengthen Ghana’s position within the global aviation network while providing travelers with greater flexibility and seamless access to destinations across six continents.
