Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has appealed to organisers of the Ghana Festival Celebration 2015 in Chicago to use the event to attract investments into Ghana.
“There are several areas of opportunity, which will excite and benefit potential investors,” she added.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare was speaking as the special guest of honour at the 27th edition of the Festival held in Chicago, Illinois, US.
The event dubbed: “GhanaFest” celebrates the history, authenticity and culture of Ghana and recognises the special bond of unity between Ghana and the United States.
She commended the organisers for the event, saying it would give the youth domiciled in the United States the opportunity to feel the authentic Ghanaian culture and also mitigate the high level of foreign influence on them.
“Ghana has a dynamic and vibrant culture coupled with historical heritage dating back to the pre-colonial era,” Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said.
She said the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington is ever ready to provide information and assistance to potential investors.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said government is gradually implementing the steps that would transform the country into a fully fledge middle-income country.
She said to realise the dream of making Ghana the most visited destination in Africa, the Ministry has embarked on various programmes and activities to uplift the Tourism and Creative Arts sector.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said government is in the process of getting legislation on the Creative Arts industry to streamline activities of the sectors to create jobs for the youth.
“We have introduced new initiatives such as ‘Explore Ghana’ and ‘HomoFest’ to encourage and promote domestic tourism among the Ghanaians as well as forge peace and unity among them,” she added.
Mrs Beatrice Tayui, Chairman for the occasion, said the support for structural development, peace and stability has earned the respect and honour from its neighbours in the sub-region.
She urged Ghanaians in Diaspora and the Chicago community to support any initiatives for growth and development.
The Chairman said, “as we celebrate “GhanaFest”, try and put Ghana first”.
