Judo Team Presents Olympic Medal To Ambassador Of Japan

Mr. Emmanuel Tetteh, President of the Ghana Judo Association on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 presented the bronze medal won by Razak Abugri in judo competition at the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, to the Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Naoto Nikai.

A statement issued in Accra by Stanislaus Acquah, Public Relations/Cultural Clerk at the Japan Embassy and copied to the Ghana News Agency said Mr. Tetteh expressed the appreciation of the Ghana Judo Association to the Embassy of Japan for supporting judo in Ghana over the years.

It said “Ghana’s judo would not have come this far without the support of the Embassy of Japan”.

Ambassador Nikai expressed happiness for ghana’s victory, adding that, judo originates from Japan and Japan has been involved in the promotion of judo in the country for a long time, and that the victory is for Ghana and Japan as well.

He added that Japan will continue to support judo in Ghana.

Razak Abugri claimed one of the only two medals (both bronze) won by Ghana in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
