Speaker of Parliament Urges Deepening Of Parliamentary Diplomacy Between Ghana & Israel

Ghana-IsraelThe Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho has urged MPs to help in promoting and deepening what he termed Parliamentary Diplomacy with other countries to help share ideas and foster development.

He said in an era of globalization it is important to share best practices to enhance governance and parliamentary practices.

Mr. Doe Adjaho said this when he launched Ghana-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Association in Parliament.

He commended Israel for its support to Ghana in past and emphasized the need for the two countries to take steps to deepen bilateral ties.

The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana Sharon Bar-li stated that the establishment of the friendship association is yet another expression of the excellent ties and the cordial bilateral relations that have traditionally existed between the two countries.

She observed that both Ghana and Israel share commitment to the values of democracy and the rule of law and they both have respect for their cultural and religious traditions.

The Ghana-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Association is chaired by the MP for Ho West Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzrah.

Israel offered technical assistance, sharing knowledge and sending specialists to establish agricultural projects water engineering schemes, training of Ghanaian pilots and the establishment of Black Star Shipping Line.

Ghana was the first African country to establish diplomatic relations with the state of Israel.
