US Embassy Postpones Visa Appointments Amid Covid-19 Surge

The United States Embassy in Accra, Ghana has postponed its scheduled visa appointments.

In a statement posted on its Twitter handle, the Embassy said it was compelled to take this decision because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the “current conditions in Ghana”.

“The ongoing pandemic and current conditions in Ghana have compelled the postponement of some scheduled visa appointments”.

“U.S. Embassy Accra regrets the difficulties that the change in appointment date brings, and we understand the hardship that these actions have for those hoping to travel soon to the United States,” it stated.

The Embassy said it does not take these decisions lightly adding that they are committed to operating with the greatest consideration for the health of the staff and applicants.

Currently, Ghana has recorded 765 new cases bringing the total active cases to 6,411. From February 1 to 3, the virus killed 24 people. The death toll also stands at 464.
