Russian Embassy: Register for Russia-Africa summit first to qualify for visa

The Russian Embassy in Ghana has urged prospective participants in the Third Russia–Africa Summit to register for the event online to obtain the mandatory invitation required for visa applications.

In a notice to prospective applicants, the Embassy directed participants to complete the registration process through the summit’s official website, explaining that a personalised invitation bearing a valid QR code would be issued upon completion.

“Upon completion of the registration procedure, each participant will receive a personalized mandatory invitation bearing a valid QR code required for the issuance of a visa for participation in the event,” the Embassy stated.

The directive comes ahead of the Third Russia–Africa Summit and the accompanying Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, scheduled for October 28–29, 2026, in Moscow, Russia. The meetings are expected to bring together African heads of state and government, ministers, business leaders, academics and other stakeholders to discuss cooperation between Russia and African countries.

The summit is intended to advance political dialogue and cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, science, technology, security and humanitarian affairs. Discussions at the economic and humanitarian forum are also expected to address digitalisation, payment systems, food security and the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The meeting will be the third edition of the Russia–Africa Summit, following the inaugural gathering in Sochi in 2019 and the second edition in St Petersburg in 2023. The summits provide a platform for Moscow and African governments to discuss shared priorities and identify opportunities for bilateral and continental cooperation.

For Ghana, the summit presents an opportunity to advance its diplomatic and economic engagement with Russia, particularly in areas such as education, technology, energy, agriculture and trade.

Russia’s Ambassador to Ghana, Andrei Ordash, has previously identified these sectors as areas with potential for deeper bilateral cooperation. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in July 2026, he also highlighted digital innovation, artificial intelligence and independent payment systems as areas expected to feature prominently in discussions at the forthcoming summit.

The ambassador indicated that Ghanaian participation would contribute to shaping the direction of cooperation between the two countries and the broader Russia–Africa partnership.

The summit is also expected to produce a new Action Plan of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum for 2027–2029, outlining priorities for cooperation in the coming years.

Prospective participants who require visas are advised to follow the prescribed registration and invitation procedures and allow sufficient time to complete their travel documentation before the event.
