Canada To Increase Investment In Ghana’s Mining Sector

The Canadian Minister, Mr. Christian Tardif has announced their readiness to invest in Ghana’s mining sector to help achieve government’s “Ghana Beyond Aid” agenda.

Mr. Tardif, explained that, Canada is ready to build on existing partnership with Ghana.

He made the remark when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asoma-Cheremeh.

In 2018, two-way merchandise trade between Ghana and Canada reached $264.6 million while import from Ghana stood at $77.2 million.

Canadian Exports included Vehicles and beverages.

Import from Ghana included Cocoa, rubber, mineral ores and wood.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asoma-Cheremeh stated that government is in discussions with mining companies in the country to undertake road construction/rehabilitation works within their catchment areas, citing the recent 33km road rehabilitation project by the government of Ghana and Goldfields Gh. Ltd.
