The engagement comes amid DHL Group’s announcement of a €300 million-plus investment plan in Sub-Saharan Africa, aimed at expanding infrastructure across DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, and DHL Supply Chain. The investment is expected to strengthen logistics capabilities in key sectors such as e-commerce, energy, perishables, and healthcare, supporting Africa’s fast-growing trade environment.
According to the latest DHL Global Connectedness Tracker, Sub-Saharan Africa recorded a 10% year-on-year increase in trade value in the first half of 2025, making it the fastest-growing region globally. Forecasts further project average annual trade growth of 4.3% between 2025 and 2029, positioning the region as a key driver of global trade expansion.

Ghana continues to rank among the top five logistics markets in Sub-Saharan Africa, reflecting its increasing importance in regional supply chains. Discussions also referenced the upcoming German-African Business Summit (GABS), scheduled for November 25–26, 2026 in Accra, which is expected to bring together business leaders from Africa and Germany to deepen economic cooperation and unlock new investment opportunities.
CEO of DHL Express Central and West Africa, Kader Coulibaly, expressed appreciation to the German Embassy in Ghana for its continued support and commitment to strengthening collaboration within the logistics and trade facilitation ecosystem.
