Ghana’s Tourism Ministry is participating in the on-going 50th International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Fair in Berlin, Germany.
This comes after two impressive showings at the just ended Vakantiebeurs Tourism Fair and the FITUR International FAIR in Netherlands and Spain respectively where participants thronged the Ghana Stand to familiarise themselves with the country’s tourism resources and had a special session during the Ghana Day Celebration.
A statement issued in Accra by the Ministry said the Ghana Tourism Authority was confident of using the event to market Ghana’s tourist products to the European market and also attract foreign investors in the tourism industry.
The ITB Fair, which is the world’s leading Travel Trade Show, is an annual event which takes place in Berlin.
It is seen to be the prime meeting place and also an excellent opportunity to meet business partners and to do business.
It said Ghana’s stand at the fair attracted dignitaries like Mr Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General of United Nations World Tourism Organisation and other African Tourism Ministers.
The statement said the Authority’s participation in this year’s fair would help encourage global tour operators and travel agents to highlight Ghana on their tour circuits.
It said the fair would afford Ghana the opportunity to inform and sensitise investors about investment incentives and opportunities available in the tourism sector.
It said with the assembling of representatives of tourism destination operators, the Ministry would take the opportunity to conduct market research in competitive and generating markets and also explore training opportunities for the sector’s human resource.
