Councillor Yvette Chesson-Wureh, Initiator of Women’s Room Situation (WSR) has hailed Ghanaians for making Africa proud again by holding a peaceful general election.

She commended Ghana for being a model democracy for the rest of Africa to emulate.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Councillor Chesson-Wureh, said no election was flawless but on the whole Ghanaians did a wonderful job, by conducting a peaceful general election on December 7.

“We thank them for making Africa proud once again. We thank the Electoral Commission for bringing out the results within the statutory time line, ” she said.

The WSR is a women’s peace building mechanism that mitigates conflict before, during and after elections in Africa.

This was replicated in Ghana in November.

It is a non-partisan and neutral process that mobilises women in collaboration with the youth to engage stakeholders to support the women’s call for peaceful elections as a peace and security measure in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325.
