Indian High Commissioner holds talks to deepen bilateral ties

The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Manish Gupta, has held high-level discussions with the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between Ghana and India.

The talks focused on enhancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation, reflecting the longstanding and robust partnership between the two nations. Both sides expressed optimism about expanding collaboration in trade, investment, education, and technological exchange for mutual benefit.

The engagement underscored the deep-rooted relationship between Ghana and India, which has historically been marked by shared democratic values, South–South cooperation, and sustained diplomatic exchanges. The discussions highlighted the importance of building capacity, fostering people-to-people connections, and creating a favorable environment for trade and investment that benefits both countries.

In a complementary development, Hon. Emelia Arthur, Ghana’s Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, met H.E. Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, India’s Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, on the sidelines of the Second Global Summit “Blue Food Security: Sea the Future 2026” held in Israel. The ministers held constructive discussions on cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture, emphasizing capacity building, technology transfer, sustainable fishing practices, and value-chain development.

The meeting reaffirmed both countries’ shared commitment to food security, sustainable marine and inland fisheries development, and the socio-economic empowerment of fishing communities. India and Ghana also explored joint initiatives aimed at promoting innovation and knowledge sharing across the fisheries sector, strengthening resilience to climate change, and fostering sustainable livelihoods.
