Togolese President In Accra For Ebola Meeting

Togolese-presidentPresident Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe of Togo is in Accra to take part in a High Level Coordination Meeting of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its partners on the Ebola virus disease.

A release from Flag Staff House copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday said the January 16 meeting will be taking stock of the various partner and stakeholder initiatives within the context of an integrated regional response to the Ebola epidemic.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur met President Gnassigbe who is the ECOWAS Contact Person on Ebola, on his arrival at the Golden Jubilee Lounge, Kotoka International Airport.

The Togolese leader inspected a Guard of Honour mounted in his honour and also interacted with the Togolese community in Accra.

The Ebola meeting will among others discuss the effective coordination of the Ebola Response Initiatives and provide a platform for the sharing of information on the situation in affected member states.

Chair of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, President John Dramani Mahama, will open the meeting at the Accra International Conference Centre, the release announced.
