Mr Ban Ki Moon, the United Nations Secretary General, has pledged the world body’s continuous support for Ebola affected countries in West Africa.
He also commended President John Dramani Mahama for spearheading the fight against the disease since its outbreak in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and recently in Mali.
Mr Ban said this assurance when he called on President Mahama at the Flagstaff House on his way to Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Mali.
His to the affected countries would complement the efforts of World Health Organization, the Economic Community of West African States and other partners.
Mr Ban pledged to support the countries to come out of the deadly disease and other infectious diseases and appealed to other African leaders to support the affected countries.
President Mahama appealed to the UN Mission to continue to support the affected countries to re-build their public health system after the Ebola scourge to place them at par with their contemporaries.
He said the disease had not only killed hundreds of people but also brought about orphaned children.
Economic activities, the President added, was also affected and they therefore needed utmost support to rebuild.
