The Vice President Amissah Arthur has arrived in Houston, Texas for this year’s Offshore Technology Conference, dubbed OTC 2014.

The conference, which is considered the world’s single largest gathering of offshore oil and gas industry players, is being held in the Houston’s Reliant Centre from 5th to 8th May 2014, and is the offshore oil and gas industry’s foremost event for the development of hydrocarbon resources in the areas of drilling, environmental protection, exploration, production development, innovation and technology.

The Vice President Amissah Arthur will address the OTC on oil and gas opportunities in Ghana and also call for more foreign investment into the sector, a statement issued by the Presidential Staffer, James Agyenim Boateng revealed.

Mr. Amissah Arthur would further hold discussions with senior level executives of a number of oil and gas companies at the conference.

As part of his trip, the Vice President would also hold bilateral meetings with the Mayor of Houston, Mrs. Annise D. Parker and Congresswoman Hon. Sheila Jackson Lee.

Mr. Amissah Arthur would also visit the MD Anderson Hospital, touted as the ‘’the number one cancer treatment hospital in the world”, in a bid to urge management of the hospital to consider building a world class medical facility for the African region in Accra.

This, according to the statement, would help improve cancer treatment methods on the continent as well as promote medical tourism in Ghana.

After the 4-day conference, the Vice President would interact with the Ghanaian community in Houston, Texas before returning to the country.
