WHO donates to Ghana Health Service

WHOThe World Health Organisation (WHO), has donated an Electrosurgical Units valued at $ 30,000.00 to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to detect and treat cervical cancer in its early stages.

The electrosurgical unit comprised Colposcope, PC and monitor, Cryo-Gun, Instrument set and Diagnostic set.

Dr Rosaline Doe, WHO Maternal and Child Health Officer who Presented the items in Accra, said the unit must be used at all non-communicable units at various health facilities to reduce the prevalence of cervical cancer.

She also advised women to regularly check for the disease.

Dr Samuel Kaba, Director Institutional Care Division at GHS expressed gratitude to WHO and said the equipment would be sent to deprived communities in the Northern Region and other parts of Ghana to fight cervical cancer.

He noted that the health personnel who would use the equipment would be equipped with the requisite skills on how to screen and diagnose for the disease.

Dr Kaba said the GHS would do their outmost best to fight cervical cancer to enhance the health of women.
