The Deputy High Commissioner of Zambia to Ghana, Albert Chifita, has underscored the significance of the Ghana Development Awards as a platform that promotes innovation and stimulates investment within Ghana’s private sector.
Speaking on behalf of the High Commissioner, Daniel Mahongo, Chifita described the awards as more than a recognition scheme, noting that it plays a critical role in fostering a resilient economy anchored on private sector contributions.
He commended the organisers for convening key business actors and development stakeholders, adding that the initiative serves as a catalyst for innovation and enterprise growth.
“Events such as this do more than celebrate success; they recognise leadership, inspire innovation, and highlight the resilience of the private sector in national development,” he said.
A total of 26 organisations and five individuals were honoured for their entrepreneurial and social impact across sectors including education, health, finance, environment, and human rights.
The awards ceremony brought together diplomats, business executives, and labour experts, reflecting a broad coalition of stakeholders whose contributions continue to shape Ghana’s economic landscape and strengthen private sector-led development.
Institutions that secured gold honours across various sectors included Green for Change Ghana, which received the Outstanding Service in Empowering Communities for Climate Adaptation award. Toende Rural Bank was recognised with the Excellence in Rural Banking and Financial Inclusion Leadership award, while The Hunger Project Ghana was honoured with the Lifetime Contribution Towards Ending Hunger and Advancing Human Dignity award.
