President John Dramani Mahama on Monday held two separate high-level bilateral meetings with Jamaican leaders – Sir Patrick Allen, the Governor-General, and Prime Minister Andrew Michael Holness in Kingston, to deepen Ghana-Jamaica relations.
The President commenced his four-day state visit to Jamaica with an official welcome ceremony, followed by a courtesy call on Sir Allen at King’s House in Kingston.
The engagement reaffirmed the longstanding historical and cultural bonds between Ghana and Jamaica, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to deepening bilateral relations, advancing Pan-African cooperation, and strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
It marks a significant step in enhancing Ghana–Jamaica relations and fostering closer ties between Africa and the Caribbean.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Holness, the two leaders discussed strengthening trade, investment, cultural exchange, and broader South-South cooperation between the two countries.
They also discussed mutual interest and new avenues for cooperation.
Discussions between the Ghanaian delegation and the Jamaican side focused on expanding economic partnerships, increasing trade and investment opportunities, enhancing cultural and educational exchanges, and strengthening collaboration on regional and international issues of shared concern.
